Bonne Année

Jan 1, 2025

1 min read

I’m writing this on 31 December 2024 in Paris. It's dark outside and midnight is approaching.

Sydney has already tipped over into the New Year and it feels nice to know that here, 2025 is still hours away.

White tea pot and cup and saucer with 'cafe de flore' written on them.

In Paris, far from my ‘real life’ I’ve had time to reflect on the past year.

The word I chose for 2024 was ‘Breathe’ and quite honestly, I barely took one (a breath!). I achieved all the writing goals I set and so many more. Even days before leaving Sydney, instead of checking I had warm enough clothes for a Northern hemisphere winter, I was working on a 500-word flash fiction.

In Paris, I haven’t written one word. I’m soaking up the beauty and making memories.

Finally, I'm breathing.

Filling my bucket back up.

Readying myself for whatever 2025 brings.
