Goals... and exciting news!

I have to interrupt my goal setting with this exciting news!
Late January I received news that my short story Aura, came second place in the Romance Writers of Australia, 2025 Diversions contest and it will be published alongside other stories in the 2025 Anthology this coming August.
Aura is a story very close to my heart, with Zoe my protagonist, negotiating life and love while living with the challenging disability of chronic migraine.
I was beyond thrilled to receive this news and can't wait for you to read it.

Goal setting
Last year my goals were clear and precise. I remained focused (plus a little deranged with determination) and month by month I knocked those 2024 goals over.
This year, as I get on with life in Sydney, my head is still wandering through the misty, cold streets of Paris and London and my 2025 goals feel hazy, slippery and a little out of focus. Essentially though, this is what I am striving to achieve:
1. Rewrite MS1 by June 30 (Not another draft? Oh yes! This time I’m being ruthless)
2. Complete a first draft of MS2 by June 30 (I’m really excited for this one and aiming for a draft that mostly hangs together)
3. Continue posting my monthly blog here (Substack is a technical challenge way too far for me right now)
4. Enter at least three writing competitions (this will give me an incentive to polish up sections of my MS2 and receive early feedback plus I'm keen to improve my flash fiction skills)
Bring on 2025!
