Sliding in at the last minute

Jul 1, 2024

Technically it’s no longer 30 June in Australia. My world clock app, however, tells me it is still June in other time zones so technically, the way I see it, I’ve met my June blog deadline. Phew!

Manuscript catch-up

At this stage I should be reporting that my manuscript is with Beta Readers.

… my manuscript is not with Beta Readers.

I’m approaching the end of this edit and although tempting to rush forward, I really want this manuscript to be the best it can be before I send it out for review. I’ve crammed plenty of writing sessions in, but perhaps on reflection, my goal was a little too optimistic.

June bookish and writing enjoyment

Book launch – Attended Amy Hutton’s book launch of Love from Scratch. This is Amy’s second novel. Her first book is Sit, Stay, Love – read that first! They are both fabulous rom com’s, real page turners. Karina May (of Duck A L’Orange For Breakfast fame) interviewed Amy and took questions from the audience. It was such a fun night! Two incredibly talented writers.

Flash fiction – Wrote and submitted a fun flash fiction piece. The theme was Marriage of Convenience, and it was a nice brain break to concentrate on writing something different and super short. I have a few flash fiction pieces now on the Romance Writers of Australia blog and this one should be up soon.

Finish line in sight – Made huge progress on this draft of my current manuscript. The end of this edit is in sight and it’s such a joy to see it improve and the story become more cohesive. Best of all, can’t wait to finish it so I can get started on my next story.
